Prayer Notes

I believe in the power of prayer and I generally try to keep an application on my mobile devices that will allow me to keep track of prayer needs as I go through my day.  Several months ago I reviewed my favorite prayer app for my Android devices here.  So I thought it was time that I turn my attention to iOS prayer apps.  Most of the time when I am teaching my Sunday School class I am using my iPad to show presentations, videos, or keep notes.  So I need a prayer application that I can take notes when we are listing the prayer concerns for the class in order to follow-up and pray for those people throughout the week.

When looking for a prayer application there are a few criteria that I look for:

  • Simple – the application must be simple and easy to add prayer requests without having to jump through a bunch of hoops.
  • Categories – the application must be able to sort the different requests based on categories that I can set.  I usually separate my prayer list in the following categories:  personal, family, friends, church, work.
  • Answered Prayers – the application must have the ability to mark prayers as answered and the ability to go back and see those prayers that have been answered.

There are a few other things that I would like to see in the application, such as syncing between devices and ability to tweet prayer requests, but these are the must have items for me when it comes to choosing which prayer application I am going to use.

After looking at several iOS programs over the last couple of weeks, I think I have found a winner.  Prayer Notes is now my go to prayer tracking application for my iPad.  This application checks all of my must have boxes and as a bonus, it looks good doing it too.  It really is simple to use and as a bonus you can password protect your prayer lists to keep your information private.  I only wish that you could sync the data between multiple mobile devices so I could review them on my iPhone but that is not a deal breaker for my needs.
