An Eye On The Scriptures

August 23, 2012 — 11 Comments

How well do you know your New Testament facts? The answer might actually surprise you. I consider myself to be of average intelligence and a little above the average person when it comes to my knowledge of the Scriptures. I don’t profess to be a Biblical scholar, after all I have someone else in the family that’s studying for that, but I do know more than the average guy that you will meet on the street.

At least that is what I thought until I started reading BibleEye’s “Gospel of Mark, Bible Trivia Quiz and Study Guide.” It didn’t take long looking through the quiz to realize that I needed to go back and do some reading.

This is where BibleEye’s new eBook really comes in handy. This eBook, available on Amazon for the Kindle, contains a complete King James Version of the New Testament Book and each chapter is followed by a short quiz on what you just read.

You might think that this would be too easy, however, the quiz that follows each chapter are well thought out to draw your attention to the details of the Scripture. These questions are all fact based and make one realize that many times we are just reading words and not fully understanding what we are reading. In fact, after I read one chapter and made it to the questions, I realized that I had just been looking at the words. It took another time through the book for me to pay attention so that I could answer the quiz.

The quizzes at the end of each chapter of the Book contain 10 multiple choice questions concerning the passage of Scripture that you just finished reading. The questions are based solely on the content of the Scripture and do not contain any theological questions making this book useful for all denominations. After all the Scriptures speak to each of us in different ways, so these quizzes try to speak to all by focusing on the events and facts contained in the verses.

I remember back in the stone ages when I attended school, I always paid a little more attention when I knew that there was going to be a pop quiz. This eBook gives me the same feeling. I need to pay attention because there is a 10 question pop quiz at the end of the chapter. Fortunately the answers are also included right on the page with the question so it is easy to learn from your mistakes.

BibleEye has eBooks available for all of the Books of the New Testament and they will be available for download to your Kindle from Amazon starting August 30, 2012. Prices on these eBooks will range from .99 for the shorter Epistles to $2.99 for the Gospels.

These eBooks are a great way to immerse yourself into the New Testament in a way that you have never done before. No matter what your level of knowledge of the New Testament is I know that you will learn something from this eBook and its quiz.

I am looking forward to checking out the other 26 New Testament books and trying some of the quizzes out on my family. They like stumping Dad with their Bible quizzes but I might just have the upper hand now.  We often use Bible quizzes to pass the time when traveling together, so these books will come in real handy on our next family vacation.

You can find samples of all of the eBooks that are available at BibleEye.com and you can look for these kindle eBooks on Amazon on August 30, 2012. And if you don’t own a kindle, there are kindle programs available for all desktops, laptops, and handheld devices so there really is no excuse, if you can read this blog then you can read this book. I highly recommend them for anyone who wants to learn more about the Scriptures or for those that just want to test out their knowledge.

  1. My favorite New Testament book is Acts. The BibleEye series in KJV would be more appealing in a more modern version. But I will still check it out. Thanks.

    • Acts is my favorite NT book also. I\’m sure the KJV was chosen because of its acceptance and also because of copyright issues.
      Thanks for the visit.

  2. I love the quiz idea! I am a bit of a "test geek," if you will – I've long since run out of people who will accept my challenge to a game of Bible trivia. It sounds like a great way to train in God's Word. However, it is important to note, that Bible head knowledge should never take precedence over Bible heart knowledge!

Thanks for the heads up – I am heading over to check out the website now!

    • You are right that Bible heart knowledge is the most important. Bible heart knowledge makes us want to learn more about Bible head knowledge. Thanks.

  3. Sounds like a great product!

  4. The missionary side of me loves Acts for obvious reasons. So much great stuff there! A personal favorite, though, is Philippians. I like the idea of a quiz. In the UK, quiz nights are really popular in the pubs. How about a revival in the U.K. rooted in Bible quizzes in the pubs?! Anyway, this looks like a neat way to enhance my knowledge of Scripture. I hope to win a copy, but look fwd to checking this out either way.

    • Here in the US we had a new game show premier last night on television \”The American Bible Quiz.\” It is good to see God\’s Word getting some prime time action. I think it would be great to see a revival break out in the pubs over the Bible quizzes. Thanks for the comment and the visit. Good luck!
