I Am A Church Member AppAs you already know I am a big fan of the book I Am A Church Member by Thom Rainer. I have reviewed the book here and have written posts on our Sunday School discussions of each chapter. Now the concept has gone digital. The book now has its own iOS application available free in the App Store.

This new application for you iOS device is designed to help you put the book into practice. The application contains notable quotes from each of the six chapters in the book. Once you click on one of these quotes, you are able to post the quote directly to your Twitter or Facebook account, email, or even text the quote to a friend. All from within the application.

But quoting the book is only one way that you can put the book into action. The app also contains the pledges from the book and allows you to electronically sign each pledge. While reading the book, you are presented with a pledge at the end of each chapter designed to make you accountable for putting the chapter into action.

The Little One's BibleToday’s children are growing up in a society that is full of technology and instant information. Many toddlers are playing games, reading books, and pecking away at a computer keyboard or tablet before they enter pre-school. What this means to parents and teachers is that if we want to capture their attention while teaching them about Jesus, you must embrace the technology that is available to us today.

If you are the parent of a small child or teach children in the church in any capacity, you certainly should check out The Little One’s Bible. Available for your iPad, kindle Fire, and Nook Color. The Little One’s Bible is the largest illustrated Bible app for kids. I recently had the opportunity to check out this application and I was very impressed. My first thought was, “What a great tool to use to teach Sunday School lessons to toddlers!”

When you open the application on your tablet you are presented with numerous stories from both the Old and New Testaments. You can then choose to share some of the greatest children’s stories in the Scriptures including the story of Noah, Jonah, and the prodigal son. When you choose a story, you are presented with great illustrations that are bright and bold to capture your child’s attention. Along with the illustration a narrative of the story, written for children, allows you to read the story to your young one as your flip through the pages. And flipping through the pages requires just a simple swipe of the screen.

On Monday I told you about ChurchLink App, a new mobile solution for churches and ministries. Yesterday, we took a look at the easy to use Dashboard that you use to create your mobile content. Today, we are going to take a look at the mobile application itself and the experience that your members will enjoy when you enroll your church in the ChurchLink App.

One of the things that makes ChurchLink unique among the mobile solutions for ministries is that they use one application, already available in the iOS and Android stores. This allows you to publish your content immediately without having to wait for a mobile application to be designed and approved. So once you have published your mobile application the next step is for your members to download the mobile application to their phones. You can find the ChurchLink App in the Apple Store or the Google Play Store.

For the purposes of this review, I will be using the iOS version of the software. The Android version has a very similar look and feel to the application with slight differences in the interface due to the differences in the two operating systems.

ChurchLink App is a mobile solution for churchesOnce your member downloads and installs the application to their mobile device they are presented with a screen to select the church or ministry that they would like to see. There are a couple of ways that one can search for your ministry, first by typing in part of the name and performing a search or secondly by simply allowing the device to find the church or ministry that is closest to their gps coordinates. This makes it very easy for your members to find your church on the application. And when they find the church that they would like to see, the application will prompt them to make this their home church, thus allowing them to avoid having to search in the future.

I did not want to let this little bit of news slip past, Bible Audio Pronunciations, my go-to app for making sure I pronounce words correctly while teaching the Bible is now available for your Android mobile device. I have used this program for a while now on my iPhone and iPad, see my review here, so I immediately installed on my Nexus 7 tablet when the developer notified me of the release.

The Android version contains about 6000 words, every proper noun in the Old and New Testaments, as well as adding some new features such as a favorites and recent tab. If you have read my review of the iOS version of this application then you will know how much I like this program. I use it just about every week. And the Android version works better than the iOS version.

If you teach a Sunday School class or are in any position that requires you to read the Bible aloud you must have this application. If you use an iOS device, the app is available in the App Store. If you are an Android user then head over to the Google Play store and pick up this application.

Using technology in the classroom is not a new idea. However, using technology in the Sunday School classroom is not quite as common. There are many different applications that are available for us to use that help in preparing and presenting your Sunday School lessons to your class. In the past we have looked at the iPad apps that are useful for this purpose. Today we take a look at the Android applications that I find most useful in the Sunday School classroom.

Each of these applications are available for most Android devices, however, I find that these applications are most useful when used on an Android tablet. The tablet makes a perfect device for preparing, making notes, and presenting Sunday School lessons. Each application is available in the Google Play Store (just click the link in the title). And all but one of these applications are available free.

You will find some of these applications on the list of 7 iPad Apps For Bible Teachers. This is because the application is useful across both platforms so I decided to include them on the list. Some of these applications are different from their counterparts on the iPad list. This is because of a difference of functionality or availability on the different platforms.
