Archives For Music

colton dixon crowdAs I told you in my post last Friday, this past weekend my family had the opportunity to spend some time together attending the Third Day Miracle Tour. The night was filled with amazing music by Third Day, Josh Wilson, and Colton Dixon. We have attended several Third Day concerts in the past and this one lived up to all the rest and did not disappoint.

There were several things that stood out in my mind about this weekend that I wanted to share with you today.

  • Josh Wilson is an amazingly talented musician that is full of love for the Lord. I have been a Josh Wilson fan since his first album was released, but I was amazed at the live performance. He was able to rock the auditorium with only an acoustic guitar, a couple of mics, and some recording pedals. This combined with his great voice and love of God made for a great show. I could have listened to him perform all night. He was even able to win over my son (the theology student) who kept remarking that Wilson’s theology was right on the mark.

Carry Me

April 19, 2013 — Leave a comment

I love spending time with my wife and kids (ok, I know they are adults now) and I am thankful that they still act like they enjoy spending time with me. Tomorrow night, will be one of those nights that we enjoy some quality time worshiping together in music as we attend the Third Day Miracle Tour concert with special guests Josh Wilson and Colton Dixon.

I am really looking forward to this time with my family and to celebrate the upcoming concert I have decided to share a music video with you this week.

For our Video of the Week this week, watch and listen as Josh Wilson performs his hit single “Carry Me” from the album of the same name that was released earlier this month. In this video, we enjoy an acoustic rendition of the song.

To read all about the story behind the song, you can visit Josh’s website here.

And be sure to check out Josh Wilson’s new album Carry Me on iTunes.

How will you be spending your weekend?

Carol Of The Bells

December 19, 2012 — 3 Comments

Christmas carols have been around for hundreds of years. In fact, the oldest known Christmas carol originated in Rome in the fourth century. One of the trends in Christmas music today is to take these Christmas carols that we grew up knowing and giving them a modern twist. Sometimes these attempts do not quite turn out to be an improvement. However, if the artists have their heart in the right place and understand the meaning of these carols, then the result can be quite enjoyable.

One of these groups that have put their own stamp on some classic carols is Our Hearts Hero. If you have read this blog on a regular basis then you have undoubtedly heard me mention this Christian band before. Last year, Our Hearts Hero released a Christmas album titled “Love Is Breathing.” You can find my original review of the album here.

This song contains some great Christmas music but my favorite has to be their rendition of Carol of the Bells. Their rock version of this Christmas classic really shows the talent that this group has. If you don’t like rock music, you probably will not appreciate their interpretation of the song, but hopefully some of you will find this music to your liking. You can check out Our Hearts Hero version of Carol of the Bells by watching the video below.

It’s Time To Jam

October 31, 2012 — 1 Comment

I know that it doesn’t seem like it but the end of the year is fast approaching.  A new year also brings us a new East Coast Winter Jam Tour and this year’s tour promises to be one of the best ever.  Since its formation by NewSong in 1995, the Winter Jam tour has spread the Gospel to thousands of young people through Christian music.  ”At the heart of Winter Jam is ministry and it’s commitment to no tickets and only $10 at the door. This remains a unique characteristic to Winter Jam and underscores the importance of making the event affordable for families, individuals and groups of all sizes.”

First, let me say congratulations to After Edmund and all of their supporters for reaching their kickstarter goal.  The project officially funded at midnight with a grand total of $21,365 donated to help After Edmund record their new album.  It is amazing what God’s people can do when they put their heart and soul and prayers into a project.

The end of the campaign also brings an end to our Biggest After Edmund Fan contest. For those of you just tuning in you can see the original contest and entries here.  The only thing left to do now is to announce the winner.

Over the past couple of days I have had the pleasure of reading how After Edmund has touched each of your lives.  I read how this band, their music, and the members themselves have helped many of you turn from a place of darkness in your lives towards Jesus Christ.  I have learned how these men have touched your lives and how you now are followers of Christ and are returning the love by showing the love of Christ to others.
