And The Winner Is

After sorting through over 130,000 entries and thousands of votes cast online, Google has announced the 2013 Doodle 4 Google Contest winner. This year’s winner is Sabrina Brady of Sparta Wisc.

This years contest theme was “my best day ever” and Sabrina touched the hearts of the voting community with the story of her reunion with her father after he returned from an 18 month tour in Iraq. Sabrina is a senior at Sparta High School and will receive a $30,000 college scholarship, a Chromebook computer, and a $50,000 technology grant for her school.

And if you are living in the US, you can head over to the Google search homepage today and see Sabrina’s winning entry proudly displayed for all to enjoy. And if you happen to be visiting New York City now through July 14th, you can view all of the 50 different state winners’ artwork proudly displayed in the American Museum of Natural History.

Doodle 4 Google Voting In Progress

A couple of months ago I told you about this year’s Doodle 4 Google contest. The contest this year, which was open to school students across the country, drew more than 130,000 entries. The folks at Google have been hard at work combing through all of those entries and have now selected the finalists for each age group.

Now through May 10, 2013, Google is asking for your vote to help determine the winner. All you have to do is visit the Doodle 4 Google finalist page and cast your vote for your favorite in each of the grade groups. Your vote will determine the 5 national finalist from which the winning Doodle will be chosen.

Last year we shared the winning Doodle 4 Google contest winner and now it is time for all of our young aspiring artists to sharpen their pencils. The Sixth Doodle 4 Google contest is upon us, at least those of us in the US anyway. Each year Google sponsors the contest for school children, grades K – 12, to design their own Google Doodle. This years theme for the contest is “My Best Day Ever …”

During last year’s contest, Google received 114,000 entries from students from all 50 states. This year’s contest is expected to be even bigger. So if you have a talented student at home now is the time to get started. Submissions are due by March 22, 2013.

This year’s entries will be judged by a panel of guest judges that have been selected by Google. Once the 50 state winners are determined, Google will open the voting to the public from May 1 to May 10 this year. The winner of the Doodle 4 Google contest will be announced on May 22, 2013 with the winning Doodle gracing the Google search page the following day.

After Edmund’s Biggest Fan Is …

First, let me say congratulations to After Edmund and all of their supporters for reaching their kickstarter goal. The project officially funded at midnight with a grand total of $21,365 donated to help After Edmund record their new album. It is amazing what God’s people can do when they put their heart and soul and prayers into a project.

The end of the campaign also brings an end to our Biggest After Edmund Fan contest. For those of you just tuning in you can see the original contest and entries here. The only thing left to do now is to announce the winner.

Over the past couple of days I have had the pleasure of reading how After Edmund has touched each of your lives. I read how this band, their music, and the members themselves have helped many of you turn from a place of darkness in your lives towards Jesus Christ. I have learned how these men have touched your lives and how you now are followers of Christ and are returning the love by showing the love of Christ to others. Continue Reading…
