Logos 5 – Our First Look

November 5, 2012 — 1 Comment

My favorite Bible study application has just received a major upgrade. That’s right, Logos 5 is now available for PC and Mac. This major update adds many new features, enhances some older features, and gives the user a new cleaner interface. Logos 5 is built around connecting. Connecting people, places, and things, within the Bible; connecting users to other students of the Bible; and connecting you to God’s Word is what Logos does best.

In anticipation of Apple’s upcoming iPad HD/3 announcement later today, I have assembled a list of must have applications for those who teach the Word of God using their iPad.  I have been using my iPad to help prepare and present my Bible lessons for the past year or so.  During this time there are several applications that have become invaluable in my preparation and presentations.  These are my go-to applications each week:

  1. eBible – If you are going to teach God’s Word, then you must have a copy of the Bible.  YouVersion may be the most popular Bible software for mobile devices and tablets on the market today, but it is not my go to application for reading the Scriptures.  eBible is quick, simple, and reads like a regular book (complete with turning pages on the iPad).  So eBible is my #1 Bible application.  The speed and simplicity make it user-friendly, the tools make it a must have application for Bible teachers. Today Logos announced an update to their Android mobile application.  As you may know, I am a big fan of the Logos Bible Study Software and I use it for all of my lesson preparation and Bible study.  If you are a Droid owner then you should certainly check out this new version of Logos for Android.

I have used the Android version of this software since it’s public beta stage and have done several reviews of the program here before.  But this new update is an exciting upgrade for all of you Droid owners so I wanted to be sure to pass along the information.

I haven’t personally had a chance to check out all of the new features due to being out of town but the latest version adds notes and highlighting.  This is a significant upgrade and it answers a real need in the Android version.  With over 80 colors and symbols you can now highlight your favorite passages and add your own thoughts and notes. As most of you know I love my @Logos Bible Study Program.  I use it on my Mac, my PC, my iOS devices and now I can officially use it on my Android devices.  Logos 1.0 is now available in the Google Play store.  Logos has had an Android version available in beta status for the past few months but as of last week the program has officially been promoted out of beta.

The release of version 1.0 brings some enhancements to the previous beta version such as improved navigation, synced reading plans, and improved UI styling.  With the Logos for Android application you now have access to your entire Logos library in the palm of your hand.  And if you don’t already have Logos library, there is no better time to start building one.
