Travel back with me, if you will, to 20 years ago today. Bryan Adams would have been singing Everything I Do, I Do It For You on the radio. George Bush (the first one) was in the White House. And I was living with my wife in Loris, SC with our 18 month old son. It was a cool day for September in South Carolina. You might wonder how I know that it was cool. That’s easy, I know exactly what I was wearing, and that includes the denim jacket; so it must have been cool.
It was on this September day that my wife went into labor and told me that I needed to take her to the doctor because we were about to have our second child. I would like to say that I was pretty calm and cool about the entire thing, after all this was number two, but since I had never been a Boy Scout, I wasn’t fully prepared, so we did have to stop and get gas on the way to the hospital. I know what you are thinking, but I did pump the gas; however, I am ashamed to admit that my wife, while in labor, went inside to pay for the gas. (We didn’t have pay at the pump 20 years ago kids.)
