This Week In Review

October 8, 2011 — Leave a comment

There are numerous blogs that I subscribe to and visit on a daily basis.  During my visits, sometimes I come across a post that I feel just needs to be shared with my readers. So without further delays, the following is a list of memorable posts from my daily visits this week.  (in no particular order)

Patience Grasshopper!

Grasshopper by diverevan on flickrAnyone who has had any experience with creating websites understands just what is involved in moving a website from one server to another.  For the rest of you, well, you are just going to have to trust me on this one.  It is a huge deal.  There are a number of things that can go wrong during the process if you get a step out-of-order, or you skip a step, or just can’t sit and wait for a step to finish.  (Yep, that’s me!)

I have gone through this experience over the past day or so, migrating this website to a more flexible site, which will hopefully allow us to do some cool stuff in the future.  But going through this process what I discovered is that I really need to find me some more patience.  I just don’t have it sometimes.  It is strange because I can sit still and wait for some things, but when it comes to doing this kind of work, I just can’t wait.  I get worried that it isn’t going right and I will eventually hit the button again, or get in a hurry and skip a step. We’re Moving On Up!!

Road Construction

Update:  It looks like we have arrived at the new server.  So now we just ask your patience as we get all of the links and kinks worked out.  All posts and comments should have followed us and we will get the pretty stuff taken care of as soon as we can.   Once again we appreciate your patience with us and thanks for visiting Christian Droid.

Over the next few days, ChristianDroid.com will be migrating to a new server in order to better serve you.  During this transition, you may experience some slight down time, or some strange looking pages.  During this process you will be able to find us at http://christiandroid.blogspot.com.

Once this process is complete, all links and RSS feeds should function normally, however, if you encounter any issues please let us know.

Thank you for your patience during this transition and we will try to make the change as smooth as possible to avoid any unnecessary interruptions.

Playings Cards

It’s time again for the wild, the wacky, and sometimes normal, fun stuff found sifting through the internet this week.
  • I know that we shouldn’t laugh at other people’s expense.  However, sometimes you just can’t help it.   Introducing Awkward Family Photos.  (And since many of the photos are submitted by the people in the photo, you are really just laughing with them.)  Awkward Family Photos Continue Reading…

Empty Bassinet in Keene New HampshireTravel back with me, if you will, to 20 years ago today.  Bryan Adams would have been singing  Everything I Do, I Do It For You on the radio.  George Bush (the first one) was in the White House.  And I was living with my wife in Loris, SC with our 18 month old son.  It was a cool day for September in South Carolina.  You might wonder how I know that it was cool.  That’s easy, I know exactly what I was wearing, and that includes the denim jacket; so it must have been cool.

It was on this September day that my wife went into labor and told me that I needed to take her to the doctor because we were about to have our second child.  I would like to say that I was pretty calm and cool about the entire thing, after all this was number two, but since I had never been a Boy Scout, I wasn’t fully prepared, so we did have to stop and get gas on the way to the hospital.  I know what you are thinking, but I did pump the gas; however, I am ashamed to admit that my wife, while in labor, went inside to pay for the gas.  (We didn’t have pay at the pump 20 years ago kids.)
