Galaxy S4 Flip Cover

April 30, 2013 — 1 Comment

Samsung Galaxy S4 Flip CoverSamsung’s newest flagship phone is now making its way into the hands of consumers. After months of anticipation, Android fans can now pick up or pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S4 from their favorite wireless carrier.

One thing that I always have disliked about the release of a new device is the lack of accessories that are available at the time the device is released. Many times you have no options available to you to protect your shiny new phone until weeks after the purchase. However, that is not the case with the release of the S4. Samsung has done a great job of providing accessories for the S4, even prior to the actual release of the device.

As with any new device, the one thing that plagues new owners is the fear that you will scratch, damage, or destroy your new phone. A new mobile device is like buying a new car. You hate to get the first scratch or nick in the paint on your new purchase.

Samsung has you protected with their Flip Case for the Galaxy S4. With your new phone held snugly within this case, you will not have to worry about that inevitable first scratch. With its protective flap that covers the screen, the flip case will protect your device from all sides.

Over the past couple of weeks I have brought you several reviews of Nexus 7 cases. Since I don’t like to play favorites, today I thought I would share some thoughts on a case for the iPad Mini. As many of you know, I use both a Nexus 7 and an iPad Mini. However, I do have to admit that my iPad Mini is my tablet of choice. I carry this iPad Mini with me just about everywhere I go so it is important to me to make sure that I have the iPad well protected. As much as I like using the iPad mini without any cover, it is not practical for me to toss the iPad in my car, on my desk, or on the table at home without protecting the screen and back from scratches.

iPad Mini Case BackApple’s Smart Cover for the iPad Mini, while protecting the front of the device does nothing to protect the back and sides of the device from nicks and scratches. In addition, the iPad Mini Smart Cover’s hinge has much more play and feels a lot flimsier than the hinge on the full size iPad’s Smart Cover. The iPad Mini Slim Smart Case eliminates both of these concerns.

The iPad Mini Slim Smart Case is a protective shell that covers the back and sides of your precious iPad Mini with its own Smart Cover permanently attached to protect the front of the device. And just like Apple’s Smart Cover, this cover contains the same folds that allows you to position your iPad Mini to multiple viewing angles.

Just Like Jesus

April 11, 2013 — Leave a comment

Just Like JesusFor several weeks I have been promising you a review of Just Like Jesus, by Max Lucado. Even though I read this book relatively quickly, unlike many of the books that I review here, I decided to read through the book a second time. It is just that good. Written in Lucado’s typical down to earth style, Just Like Jesus is an inspiration for us to try to live like Jesus and to develop a heart like His.

As humans, we have a hard time understanding God’s love. We typically try to relate His love for us with our love. In his book, Lucado dispels this way of thinking. God’s love isn’t based on human love. We can not equate the love that God has for us with the love that we have for others.

God loves you just the way you are, but he refuses to leave you that way. He wants you to be just like Jesus.

This quote from early in the book caught my attention from the very beginning. Lucado takes care to explain this concept in his book in more detail.

SD TabletWear Stand and Type for Nexus 7I am constantly on the look out for new and better cases for my tablets. So when I had the opportunity to review another Nexus 7 case, I jumped at the chance. What I did not realize was that I was going to completely fall in love with this case.

I don’t go many places without taking one of my tablets along for the ride. So I usually try to make sure that I have both my iPad and my Nexus 7 protected by some type of case. With the cost of replacing these devices, it is always a good idea to protect your device against scratches, dents, or worse breakage.

I have used many different cases, covers, and skins for my tablets over the years but I have generally used one for only a short period of time before something about it started bothering me and I would switch covers. However, I may have just found one that I consider a keeper; the SD TabletWear Stand and Type for my Google Nexus 7.

The SD TabletWear Stand for the Google Nexus 7 is a full notebook style case. The case is made to simulate the look and feel of leather on the outside, with your normal plush interior to protect your precious device. This TabletWear case is a perfect fit for the Nexus 7. It is just big enough for the device to slide in with little effort but not so large that the tablet moves around once it is inside the case. There is no extra room around the sides of the device so this case adds very little to the overall size of the device. One of my pet peeves are cases that change the size of the tablet. If I had wanted a large bulky tablet, I would not have purchased the Nexus 7.

Protecting Your Nexus 7

February 18, 2013 — 1 Comment

When it comes to protecting my mobile devices, I am somewhat of a stickler. I like the idea of keeping my devices fresh and free from damage, however, I don’t like adding bulky cases to change the shape and feel of the device that designers spent so much time making. When I purchased my Nexus 7, one of the first thing that I noticed was the back of the device. The material is scratch resistant and feels good in your hands. I knew this was one device that I would leave in its natural state.

However, sometimes the best laid plans do not go as planned. After owning my Nexus 7 for only a couple of hours, I was sitting at my desk, reached for the stapler, and bumped the edge of the 7 inch tablet with the stapler. Not really any big deal, I hardly touched it, however, when I glanced over at the tablet it became very apparent just how fragile the edges of this device really were.

As you can see in the picture above, I chipped the silver plastic strip that lines the front edge of the device. Barely a scratch, but a scratch it was on my brand new device. I immediately started rethinking my decision to go without a case. Not to be deterred I soon forgot about the scratch and continued using the device without a case. That is up until I was given the opportunity to review the FlexiShield Wave Case for the Nexus 7.
